Continuing education for teachers and experienced students: Updating our approach to the hips
As yogis we spend a lot of time working with our hips. But traditional yoga sequencing can take an uneven approach to this major joint in your body.
This workshop will attempt to remedy that, by highlighting all of the muscles that surround your hip joint (including some that yogis accidentally ignore!).
We will look at how to strengthen and stretch all of these muscle groups, why strengthening is just as important as stretching, how to avoid some of the injuries that come up in this area for long term yogis, and some simple techniques for how you can build a more balanced approach to your hips into your own practice.
Registration: 35 euros / 60 euros for both morning and afternoon workshops + vat for non-members
Olivia takes a modern and science-based approach to yoga. Expect clear instructions and a logical approach to postures that might initially seem complicated. You will also learn to work with the anatomy and needs of your own body to help you get the most out of your own practice. Olivia holds the highest designation possible from Yoga Alliance – the international governing body for yoga teachers – which is based on having completed extended periods of advanced level training and at least 2000 hours of teaching experience. She is a teacher of teachers, and co-leads a popular yoga teacher training course in London each year. Olivia also mentors newer yoga teachers as they go through their first few years on the job. You definitely don’t need to be a teacher to attend these workshops but if you are, they can count towards your Yoga Alliance continuing education hours.
